4 FAVORITE PLACES FOR HAIR INSPO

Updated: Jul 14, 2023

Inspiration can come from anywhere, and take any form. You could be inspired to cook a bougie meal based upon an episode of Next Level Chef, or upfit your home with barn doors because Joanna Gaines told you to.

We find bright ideas everywhere when it comes to hair. Not only are our stylists up on the latest trends from trade shows and regular training, they spot amazing looks in everyday life that we bring back to the salon.

Here are a few of our favorite spots for hair inspo! Get your ideas together, then give us a call at Little Shop of Hairdos for a free consult.

To no one’s surprise, one of the world’s largest content platforms has a veritable cornucopia of hair style inspo, from cuts, to color, to styling. Browsing hashtags based on what you’re looking for is a great way to filter posts; try #longhairstyles, #brunettebalayage, #platinumblonde, #pinkhair, for example. Anything you can think of just might have a corresponding hashtag, so take a shot and see what you can find. A word of caution – just as Instagram is full of filtered faces and bodies, keep in mind some hair photos are filtered as well. Your stylist can look at your inspo photos and determine if the look is realistically achievable based on your current hair status.

Another content library filled to the brim with pictures of hair! The best part about finding styles on Pinterest is the rabbit holes they offer you for similar styles and photos for each picture you visit. Once you find something you like, follow the trail and pin as you go to create your own inspo board! Similarly to Instagram, these photos can be heavily filtered, and are often meticulously styled, so prepare to consult with your stylist about realistic expectations related to your inspo.

MAGAZINES

Beauty magazines like Allure, Elle, and Vogue often highlight current trends in hair styling, cuts, and hair care. Hop online and navigate to the “Beauty” section of each website, and enter the section for hair to catch today’s top hair news, celebrity looks, and influencers.

Good ol’e fashioned Google. You know the drill, type in key words for a style that interests you and check the image search results. This is a super easy way to get results across platforms and really get a perspective of everything out there. Prepare for the rabbit hole here as well, since once you click on a source, you might just find more to sift through!

Remember to save your inspiration photos somewhere, whether it’s your saved items on Instagram, a Pinterest board, web favorites, or photos saved to your phone’s photo gallery. Sometimes multiple photos speak to you, but maybe each one is a little different. Allowing your stylist to look at your favorites together will help guide a conversation to discern the common ground and what it is you’re really pulling from each photo that you like. Bringing a photo to an appointment is a foolproof way to make sure you and your stylist are on the same page. We can’t wait to see what you have in mind! Ready to bring your inspiration to life? Schedule an appointment at Little Shop of Hairdos today.
